How It All Began
White Dairy, a privately held corporation owned by the Tankersley family, was founded in 1928 as a manufacturer of civilian retail grocery packaged ice cream and ice cream novelty products. The company was expanded in 1985 by entering the military retail grocery sales channel which evolved into what is currently the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA).
White Dairy was the first supplier to successfully ship ice cream products to the overseas military commissaries which made it possible for the overseas commissary patron to enjoy a welcomed taste of home by offering USA manufactured ice cream products.
While we initially specialized in extreme temperature sensitive items such as frozen and highly perishable chill products, our company has now expanded to beverage products and dry items traditionally delivered to the civilian retail channel via Direct Store Door (DSD) delivery. We effectively created a DSD delivery from the distributor warehouse, to the store, and on the shelf.
Today, we provide the best possible products at the most affordable price for our country’s patrons.
Convenience/Exchange
The global system of convenience stores and exchanges are an opportunity for food and non-food consumer packaged goods manufacturers to deliver a familiar taste of home to those serving abroad or in the U.S. The system is operated under the U.S. Department of Defense Army & Air Force Exchange (AAFES), Navy Exchange (NEX), Marine Exchange (MCX), Coast Guard Exchange (CGX) and Veteran’s Canteen Services (VCS) programs. The system serves active-duty U.S. Military, Guard and Reserve members, military retirees and their families.
Since 1895, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service has gone where Warfighters and their families go to provide quality, tax-free merchandise and goods and services military communities need - regardless of location, risk or challenge.
The NEX is one of the six business lines under the purview of the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM). Its mission is to provide quality goods and services at a savings and support Navy quality of life programs. In addition to operating an online store, myNavyExchange.com, there are over 300 NEX stores located on Navy bases worldwide.
The Defense Commissary Agency, which is headquartered at Fort Lee, VA., operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment.
Marine Corps Exchanges have been proudly servicing the needs of Marines and their families since 1897. For over a century, we've known that our customers are special people who serve their country proudly.
Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) was established by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 1946 under the statutory provisions of Title 38 U.S.C. VCS was created to provide articles of merchandise and services at reasonable prices to Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare, their families, VA employees and caretakers.
The Mission of the Coast Guard Exchange is to provide quality merchandise and services of necessity and convenience to our Coast Guard men and women as well as authorized patrons at competitive prices.
